Corner view: wisdom from an elder

This is my grandmother. The mother of my mother. She is 91 in a month or so. She is taking part in a beautiful project that is recording voices and ways of speaking in different parts of the Basque Country. She is relating her life in oder to be recorded and later studied. I have discovered with this work thing I didn´t know about her life during the war, her months in Reims (France), her weeding, and the customs of the village where she has always lived. All the links goes to voices in basque, but if you want to hear her, just click on the TV. Ahotsak.
Hau amama diat. Amaren ama. 91 urte beteko ditu datorren hilabetean. Proiektu izugarri batean dabil parte hartzen. Proiektu honek gure zaharren ahotsak grabatu egiten ditu, Euskal Herri osoko herrietan. Horrela hizkerak eta hitz zaharrak gordetzen dira. Honen bidez amamari buruz ez nekien gauzak aurkitu ditut, nola izan zen bere bizitza gerra garaian, Reimsen pasatako hilabeteak, bere ezkontza eta herriko ohiturak. Ahotsak.
Ahotsak.

  17. A lovely tribute. You will be happy to have this. Before my grandmother died I interviewed her and asked her all of these questions abut her life, growing up on a farm with over 10 siblings...so fascinating, a life from another time.
