Corner view: wisdom from an elder

This is my grandmother. The mother of my mother. She is 91 in a month or so. She is taking part in a beautiful project that is recording voices and ways of speaking in different parts of the Basque Country. She is relating her life in oder to be recorded and later studied. I have discovered with this work thing I didn´t know about her life during the war, her months in Reims (France), her weeding, and the customs of the village where she has always lived. All the links goes to voices in basque, but if you want to hear her, just click on the TV. Ahotsak.
Hau amama diat. Amaren ama. 91 urte beteko ditu datorren hilabetean. Proiektu izugarri batean dabil parte hartzen. Proiektu honek gure zaharren ahotsak grabatu egiten ditu, Euskal Herri osoko herrietan. Horrela hizkerak eta hitz zaharrak gordetzen dira. Honen bidez amamari buruz ez nekien gauzak aurkitu ditut, nola izan zen bere bizitza gerra garaian, Reimsen pasatako hilabeteak, bere ezkontza eta herriko ohiturak. Ahotsak.
Ahotsak.

The passage of time

There are moments one wants to stop and taste forever. But time is imposible to stop. The only thing one can do, is to take that special look, that colour or that smile that has changed the whole day and try to keep it the a very deep and safe drawer of the heart. Just to look inside again, remembering it, hearing it laugh again and looking again at the depth of the eyes.
Badaude bizitzan une batzut gelditu eta betirako gorde nahi ditugunak. Baina denbora gelditzen ezinezkoa da. Orduan egin dezagun gauza bakarra, egun osoa aldatu duen begirada berezi hori, kolore hori edo irribarre hura, hartu eta bihotzeko kaxoi seguru eta barrukoenean gorde. Behar degunean barruan begiratzeko, gogoratzeko, barre hura berriro entzuteko eta begi ilun horien barnera berriro begiratzeko.

Carnival weekend

Snow is again here. Just for the carnival. (look and enjoy)
Elurra berriro. Ihauterietarako.
Nieve. Justo para carnavales.

How to disguise oneself just to pass by? Not to be reconized?
Nola jantzi denen artean pasatu eta ezagutua ez izateko?
De qué disfrazarse para pasar desapercibido? Para no ser reconocido?

GUESS!
Have a great weekend and be yourselves.

Something about me

Finn and Bea, each one in her way has asked me to reveale 7 things about myself. So although I have already written about it, I will try to say something more:
1.- I love the smell of wet land
2.- I adore to lie on the grass in a clear night of summer to look at stars
3.- I have learned to enjoy little things and don´t think too much. I must thank a good friend for that life lesson.
4.- I can be hours looking at clouds, trying to imagine forms and stories.
5.- Trains always have fascinated me. Love to take a moment in a railway station to look around and imagine the stories of the people that are around.
6.- Enjoy travelling, and with years I enjoy more, travelling slowly, taking a time to discover the people, the place and little details.
7.- 7 is a number I love. I don´t know why.

I should ask people to share with us little life pieces. But I will leave people to join if they want.

Have a great week my friends. And the little man in my hand, is my last ceramic creation.

San Agueda

Foto from Coro Parroquial

Tomorrow is Santa Agueda. The night before in the Basque Country there is the tradition of going from house to house, singing and asking for what the neighbourgs would want to give.
I try to put a video of the song, sing in circle, helped with wooden sticks and the little sound of the txistu. Take a look here and here.

The lyrics of the song are:

1.-Zorion, etxe hontako denoi! Happinness to all of this house
Oles egitera gatoz, We come calling
aterik ate ohitura zaharra From door to door, to renovate
aurten berritzeko asmoz. And ancient custom

Ez gaude oso aberats diruz, We don´t have lot of money
ezta ere oinetakoz. Neither shoes
Baina eztarriz sano gabiltza, But we are sane from throat
ta kanta nahi degu gogoz. and we come to sing

2. Santa Ageda bezpera degu It is the day before Santa Agueda
Euskal Herriko eguna, The day of the Basque Country
etxe guztiak kantuz singing all the houses
pozteko aukeratu deguna. to bring happiness.

Santa maitea gaur hartu degu We take today dear santa
gure bideko laguna. as a walking friend.
Haren laguntzaz bete gentzake to fill with her help
egun hontako jarduna. the day with hope.

Translations is mine...so....not so good. Have a great day.

Corner view: sweets

I though I could manage to cook something sweet. And after seing in other windows I have found there are really good sweet makers all over those corners. But I had no time...
Zeozer goxoa egin nezakeela pentsatu nuen. Eta beste leihoetan begiratu ondoren, pastel eta goxo egile bikainak daudela konturatu naiz. Baina denborarik ez nuen izan...
Había pensado hacer algo dulce. Cocinar. Y después de mirar a través de otras ventanas he descubierto que hay realmente buenas pasteleras por otras esquinas. Pero no tuve tiempo...

Then I thought that I could make something with the m&ms, like in the advertisment...and imposible. So I finished taking photos to them and selecting which one was the next to jump on my mouth.
Gero, m&msekin zeozer egin nezakeela pentsatu nuen, iragarkian bezala...baina ezinezkoa. Eta argazkiak ateratzen amaitu nuen eta zein izango zen nire ahora salto egingo zuen urrengokoa aukeratzen.
Luego, pensé en hacer algo con los m&ms como en el anuncio...pero imposible. Así que terminé sacando fotos y eligiendo cuál iba a ser el siguiente en saltar a mi boca.
